Private Health Insurance Policy for Foreign Nationals Who Hold or
will obtain a Residence Permit in Bodrum
Law 6485 on Foreigners and International Protection, entered into force in April 2014, obliges foreign nationals to purchase a private health insurance policy in order to obtain a residence permit in Turkey.
Should foreign nationals such as the British, Irish, Belgian or Dutch residing in Bodrum desire to reside in Turkey for a year or more, they are to purchase a private health insurance policy as specified in Turkish law. Foreign nationals between the ages of eighteen and sixty-five residing in Turkey are to hold the obligatory private health insurance policy. However, foreign nationals either below the age of eighteen or above the age of sixty-five do not have such an obligation. While the private health insurance policy for foreign nationals residing in Bodrum is often on a 1-year contract as initial application is usually made via e-ikamet website, a 2-year policy may also be purchased through insurance agencies in Bodrum should the concerned individual wishes to do so.
