Private Health Medical Insurance Policy for Foreign Nationals Who Hold or will obtain a Residence Permit in Bodrum Turkey
Law 6485 on Foreigners and International Protection, entered into force in April 2014, obliges foreign nationals to purchase a private health insurance policy in order to obtain a residence permit in Turkey. Should foreign nationals such as British, English, United Kingdom, Irish, Belgian, Netherland, French, Russian, Austrian, Saudi Arabian, Afghan, Syrian, Algerian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Canadian, Danish, Egyptian, Greek, Indonesian, Iranian, Israeli, Italian, Japanese, Kazakhstani, Kuwaiti, Lebanese, New Zealand, Norwegian, Philippine, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Swiss, Tunisian, Turkmen, Ukrainian and German citizens residing in Bodrum, Yalıkavak, Turgutreis, Kadıkalesi, Torba, Gümbet, Yalıçiftlik, Kızılağaç, Mumcular, Ortakent, Yahşi, Bitez, Konacık, Göltürkbükü, Gündoğan, Gümüşlük, Güvercinlik, Güllük, Boğaziçi and Tuzla desire to reside in Turkey for a year or more, they are to purchase a private health insurance policy as specified in Turkish law. Foreign nationals between the ages of eighteen and sixty-five residing in Turkey are to hold the obligatory private health insurance policy. However, foreign nationals either below the age of eighteen or above the age of sixty-five do not have such an obligation. While the private health insurance policy for foreign nationals residing in Bodrum is often on a 1-year contract as initial application is usually made via e-ikamet website, a 2-year policy may also be purchased through insurance agencies in Bodrum should the concerned individual wishes to do so.
